Facilities

IDENTITY CARD

After admission the college will provide each student an Identity Card. The Identity Card is to be revalidated at the beginning of each academic year. If the Identity Card, Pay-in-slip and Library Card are lost, the student will have to pay a fine of Rs. 20/- in each case. For a duplicate Identity Card or Pay-in-slip Book or Library Card they are to apply to the Principal of the college along with a copy of the FIR lodged with a police station.

NOTICE BOARD

Students are instructed to follow the College Notice Board regularly for information concerning Class Routine, Holidays, Examinations, Results, Payment of Fees, College activities and all other circulars issued by the college authority from time to time. Students should not disturb the college office staff or teachers for such information.

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION

The college has no hostel of its own but a few seats in the Eden Hindu Hostel is usually made available to the students of B. Com. (Honours) Course (Boys only) of this college. Students seeking hostel accommodations have to apply through the Principal to the Superintendent of the hostel in the prescribed form to be available from the hostel office.

STUDENTS’ HEALTH HOME FACILITIES

All the students of this college are members of Students’ Health Home. They can enjoy facilities like Out-door Consultation, Hospitalisation, Operation, X-Ray, Pathological tests, Medicines, Spectacles etc. free of cost or at a concessional rate.

The Students’ Health Home is located at 142/2, Acharya J. C. Bose Road, Kolkata – 700 014, opposite to R. A. Dental College, Sealdah (Maulali crossing), and the consultation is available on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. For consultation at the Health Home students must carry their college Identity Cards and Fee Books.

PRIZES

Prizes in books and / or medals and certificates are awarded annually to the students on the basis of their performance in the B. Com. (Honours) Final Examination and the M.Com. examination.

The Government of West Bengal has provision of stipends for S.C./S.T. students. For stipend under this category students should contact the Stipend Section of the Education Department, Government of West Bengal, Bikash Bhavan, Salt Lake, Kolkata-91 for necessary forms and details.

CORPORATE ACTIVITIES

The Students’ Union, a statutory body of the college, guide and conduct in a disciplined and constitutional manner the corporate and cultural activities of the college students through various co-curricular activities. The Union has the following Sections: Literary — Periodical debates, extempore and essay contests are organised by this section.

Social — This section helps to develop the organisational qualities of the students to tackle corporate activities.

Magazine — The college magazine nourishes the students’ literary talents and it comes out once a year.

Common Room — A fairly well-equipped common room with facilities for indoor games can be used by the students during recess hours.

Athletic — Under the general supervision of Physical Instructors this section offers facilities to students to participate in various indoor and outdoor games and to compete in intra and inter college tournaments. This section also organises the Annual Sports meet of the college.

Gym – The College has a well equipped gymnasium. Students can avail of this facility strictly under the supervision of the Physical Instructor.
