Library

The College has a rich Library having collections of more than 60,000 books, journals, and magazines and a well furnished Reading Room.

The College Library and the Reading Room will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

The timing for issue of books to students of different classes of both Morning and Day Sections will be decided by the Librarians.

The following books will not be issued for home use without the permission of the Principal:

a) Books of reference.

b) Reports and Periodicals.

c) Books containing valuable plates.

d) Rare books

e) Maps and Atlas.

Rules

No student will be allowed to take out more than 2 books at a time. A Borrower’s Card will be issued to each person borrowing books from the library. The Borrower’s Card will be retained by the Librarian at the time of issue of books and the persons concerned will be held responsible till the books are returned. In case of loss of the Borrower’s Card the student concerned will be charged a fine of Rs. 20/- for a duplicate Card.

Students must return the books borrowed by them within 15 days from the date of issue. If any book is required for a longer period, the borrower shall get the book re-issued. Such re-issue of books shall be allowed once only.

Before a student is allowed to collect his/her admit card for the Final Examination or to withdraw his/her name from the College or to discontinue his/her connection with the College, he/she will be required to produce a Library Clearance Certificate to be issued by the Librarian.

Any student retaining a book beyond the time allowed or failing to comply with the notice for returning books shall pay a fine of Re. 1/- per day for each book from the date of default till the date of return of the book.

A book may be issued to a student for reading in the reading room after writing down the name of the book, his/her full name and the class in a register.

No noise or loud talking shall be allowed inside the Library and reading room.

Any book lost, damaged or defaced must be replaced by the reader. If the book is one of a set or series and cannot be obtained singly the whole set or series must be replaced. The reader is particularly warned not to scrawl or scribble in a library book.

A reading room card will be issued to each student. It will be retained by the Librarian at the time of issue of books in the reading room. The card will be returned to the student before the close of the Library on the same date. In case of loss of this card a fine of Rs. 25/- will be charged. If the book is not returned during the day, the student will not be allowed to enjoy the facilities of the Library till the case is decided by the Principal.
